Sometimes it feels impossible to let go of everything that doesn’t suit us.

We’re constantly tied into other people’s energy, thoughts, and opinions. Even when we work hard to clear the opinion barrier and protect our own thinking, we still process, deep inside our prefrontal cortex, often that effort is overridden by our limbic system, allowing emotions to override even our most logical and self-preserving thoughts.

this wall in our Italian house incorporates many things I love. Metal (the lead backing behind the mounted plate), linen, imperfect plaster and ceramics. I go back to pictures like this when I want to refocus on my own style.

Not that emotions are bad. They’re not. But if they create a cycle of guilt, envy, or even fear surrounding maintaining our own wishes, they are also not serving us.

Our limbic system is complex, creating different reactions to different thought processes.
